What is sharing?

When you create a plan in Brixx, you might want others to work on it with you. To do so, you can share the plan with them.

Once shared, the invited user can view the plan or even make changes - depending on the permissions you grant them. Any changes you or those users make are instantly visible for everyone who you have shared the plan with.

How does sharing work?

You can share a plan with any active Brixx user. If they do not have a Brixx account yet, they will be prompted to create one before they can access your plan.

Sharing a plan connects the user with whom you have shared the plan to that specific plan. It does not apply to the whole Organisation (learn more about Organisations).

How to share a plan

To share a plan:

  1. On the Plans page, click the People icon on the plan tile. You can also open the plan and click Share in the top right corner.

  2. Expand the Guest Access tile with the ‘+’ button.

  3. Enter the email address of the user you want to invite and choose their role.

You can share a plan with anyone using their email address. If they do not have a Brixx account yet, they will be prompted to create one before they can access your plan.

Roles and rights explained

Each user you share your plan with gets a role that defines what they can do. Here are the rights for each role:

  • Viewer: View that plan.

  • Editor: View and edit that plan.

  • Power editor: View, edit, and share that plan.

  • Administrator: View, edit, share, and delete that plan.

Any user added to your Organisation gets certain rights to all the plans in that Organisation. So you do not need to add them to individual plans unless you want them to have special rights for a specific plan.

You can also share your Brixx plan with someone using a public link. Anyone can paste that link into their browser window for quick read only access to the plan.

If they do not have a Brixx account, like an investor for example, they can use the public link to view the plan without going through the sign up process. Other Brixx users can also use that link to quickly access the plan.

To share a plan with a public link:

  1. On the Plans page, click the People icon on the plan tile. You can also open the plan and click Share in the top right corner.

  2. In the Public Link Expiration tile, choose the duration for which you want the link to be active and click on the ‘+’ button.

  3. A link will be created. You can copy that link and share.

You can see the list of all the public links you have created.

You can also rename a public link for your convenience by clicking the field that mentions its name and entering a new one.

If you want to delete a public link, simply click on the X button next to it.

How to remove a user’s access from a shared plan

To remove a user’s access from a shared plan:

  1. On the Plans page, click the People icon on the plan tile. You can also open the plan and click Share in the top right corner.

  2. In the Guest Access tile, navigate to their email address.

  3. Click on the X button next to their email.

What if someone invites you to their plan?

When someone invites you to their plan, you will receive an email notifying you about it. It will mention the email address of the person sharing their plan with you as well as the name of that particular plan.

You can view and edit that plan depending on the permissions you have been granted.

To view the shared plan:

  1. Go to your Plans page.

  2. Click on the Organisations dropdown in the top centre of your screen.

  3. Choose ‘Plans shared with me’.

  4. All the plans that have been shared with you will appear there.

If you no longer wish to access the plan, you can remove it by clicking on the cog icon on the plan tile on your Plans page and click Remove.

Note: If you are unable to see the shared plan under ‘Plans shared with me’, it is possible that they may have shared their Organisation with you. You can switch to that Organisation from the Organisation dropdown. For any help related to Organisations, you can use this article: What are Organisations and how do I use them.
